Administrative Core

The Administrative Core is comprised of Geoffrey T. Manley, MD PhD, with direct management by Mary Vassar, RN MS, and an administrative staff located at San Francisco General Hospital as part of the University California, San Francisco Brain and Spinal Injury Center (B.A.S.I.C). This Core has overall scientific and financial oversight for TRACK-TBI.

Core Leader | Geoff Manley, MD PhD

Dr. Manley is the Chief of Neurosurgery at San Francisco General Hospital and Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He is a trauma neurosurgeon with clinical interests in brain injury, spinal cord injury and neurocritical critical care. His translational research interests span from the laboratory to the bedside.​

Director of Data Quality | Mary Vassar, RN MS

Mary Vassar is Director of Data Quality for TRACK-TBI. She has extensive research, quality assurance, policy and project management experiences in the University of California system and in federal and local governments. Her research focus includes management of multi-center clinical trauma trials, outcome prediction modeling in trauma patients and the epidemiology of traumatic injuries.

Finance Manager | Herman Ma

Herman joined the Brain and Spinal Injury Center in 2017 as the Finance Manager. He oversees financial duties of BASIC and manages Dr. Manley’s research portfolio, which includes over $50 million in funding from federal, non-profit, private and industry sponsors. He has over 11 years of experience working in research administration. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his children on Euro board games and Lego building.
