The Administrative Core is comprised of Geoffrey T. Manley, MD PhD, with direct management by Mary Vassar, RN MS, and an administrative staff located at San Francisco General Hospital as part of the University California, San Francisco Brain and Spinal Injury Center (B.A.S.I.C). This Core has overall scientific and financial oversight for TRACK-TBI.
Core Leader | Geoff Manley, MD PhD
Dr. Manley is the Chief of Neurosurgery at San Francisco General Hospital and Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He is a trauma neurosurgeon with clinical interests in brain injury, spinal cord injury and neurocritical critical care. His translational research interests span from the laboratory to the bedside.
Director of Data Quality | Mary Vassar, RN MS
Mary Vassar is Director of Data Quality for TRACK-TBI. She has extensive research, quality assurance, policy and project management experiences in the University of California system and in federal and local governments. Her research focus includes management of multi-center clinical trauma trials, outcome prediction modeling in trauma patients and the epidemiology of traumatic injuries.
Director of Clinical Studies | Sabrina Taylor, PhD
Sabrina Taylor received her doctoral degree in Neuroscience from the Program in Experimental and Molecular Medicine at Dartmouth College. Dr. Taylor’s research investigated the effect of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) on the birth of new neurons during early development in humans and immature piglets. After her PhD, Dr. Taylor entered into the clinical research field as a Research Coordinator at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital where she supervised and coordinated all new and ongoing projects in the Neurorehabilitation Laboratory. She joined University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center as the Director of Clinical Studies at the Brain and Spinal Injury Center (B.A.S.I.C.) where she is currently responsible for managing the TRACK-TBI and TED multicenter projects.
Finance Manager | Mayra Sustaita
Mayra joined the Brain and Spinal Injury Center in 2014 as the Finance Manager. She oversees the TRACK-TBI U01 and manages Dr. Manley’s contracts and grants portfolio, which includes over $28 million in funding from federal, non-profit, private and industry sponsors. She has over 10 years of UCSF experience, 9 of those working in Research Administration doing pre and post award management. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son and exploring the many different playgrounds in San Francisco.
