Geriatric TBI Group

The highest rates of TBI-related ED visits and hospitalizations occur in older adults, largely as a result of falls. As the global population ages and grows, the number of older adults seeking care for TBI will only increase. Our goals are: (1) To develop and refine TBI outcome assessments that are appropriate for the geriatric population, (2) To describe outcome trajectories among older adults with TBI and particularly how these outcome trajectories may differ from younger or middle-aged adults, and (3) To identify the most important clinical, genetic, and biomarker predictors of outcomes in this population.
